McEown Location
The USSU Childcare Centre – McEown location at 109 Cumberland Avenue South, beside Souris Hall has 90 children from 6 months to 6 years.
The ages are split into six groups:
- Baby Room (Infants) – 6 months to 18 months – 6 children to 2 ECEs
- Bumblee Room (Toddler) – 19 months to 2 ½ years – 10 children to 2 ECEs
- Ladybug Room (Toddler/Preschool) – 19 months to 3 ½ yrs – 14 children to 2 ECEs
- Butterfly Room (Toddler/Preschool) – 19 months to 3 ½ yrs – 20 children to 3 ECEs
- Dragonfly Room (Preschool) – 3 ½ to 4 ½ yrs – 20 children to 2 ECEs
- Firefly Room (Preschool) – 4 ½ to 6 yrs – 20 children to 2 ECEs
We also have 3 full-time ECE who help in various rooms with ratios daily.

Accessing our centre:
- Upon arriving at USSU Childcare Centre – Mceown, you will find 2 designated accessible parking spaces directly across from the front door.
- There is ramped access to the sidewalk leading into the building from the drop-off area.
- Saskatoon Transit Route 10 passes us on Cumberland Avenue with a sidewalk leading to the Centre.
Accessible amenities include:
- wide doorways with clear pathways
- accessible washroom with grab bars
- braille signage labelling each room
- rest area at our entrance, both indoors and outdoors
- service animal relief area
Accessible aids include:
- we offer a wide variety of sensory materials to both stimulate and calm the children in our care.
- noise cancelling headphones are available.
- each classroom has a variety of lighting options
- we work closely with Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapists to ensure we have the tools to support every level of ability.
